For this week's project, I chose to do the Portfolio Builder Project #4 from the Against The Clock (Illustrator Version) book.
The instructions: The Los Angeles parks and recreation director has hired you to create a new illustrated, user-friendly map of the Griffith Park recreation complex.
PROCESS
For this design, I first looked for an actual map of the place and some images to use as templates, and then I opened Adobe Illustrator and started creating. I went for the icons first; I used tools such as Pen, Fill and Stroke, Shapes, Free Transform, Eyedropper, Text, and more. I created a personalized brush and used effects like Drop Shadow. I recreated Griffith Park's original map that I found online but made it more vivid, using my own icons (except for the observatory and interstate icons) and a more colorful palette.
