Holiday Ads | DIE Week 4 - Project 4

WHAT IS AN ADVERTISEMENT?

Well, an advertisement is a promotional message designed to attract the attention of a target audience and persuade them to take a specific action, such as buying a product or engaging with a service. They can take various forms, including print, digital, audio, or video.

For this week's project, the assignment was to choose a product or service and create three advertisements, one the size of a full-page magazine, one for a half-page, and one for Instagram or Facebook.

For the theme I wanted to do Christmas ads, and I chose to use Coca-Cola products. I wanted to try different techniques and effects in Photoshop, so I decided to use one product but make three different designs, instead of making one design and adapting it to three different sizes.

As Coca-Cola products are not recommended for children, my target audience would be adults.

8.5 x 11 in. Full-Page Magazine Ad.

Coca-Cola is one brand that has used the image of Santa Claus and polar bears as part of their Christmas designs for many years. I wanted to create one design with real polar bears to give them a different look but the same melancholic feeling that the original vintage ads made me feel when I was a kid. The message is direct, simple, and inviting.

8.5 x 5.5 in. Half-Page Ad.

For this ad, I used a background that makes me think of celebration and happiness. I changed the canned soda for the bottles and added the current logo, which I think works well in some designs to give the finished look of an ad. The message is from some of the original Coca-Cola designs, I think it goes well here.
2000 x 2000 px. Instagram/Facebook Ad.

This design is about a gift, the torn wrapping paper revealing the soda, which I think is easily recognized. This message is also from some original ads, I added the Christmas part.

This project took me a lot more time than I expected, searching for photos took me a while, but I enjoyed the process. I used many tools I learned about in this course, like blending modes, layer effects, brushes, filters, and more. Patience is essential when doing something, and the more you practice the better results you get. I think I got some nice-looking designs, and I think their messages are persuasive enough to make you want some Coca-Cola.

Which product or service would you have chosen?
